Business in Mongolia

Since Mongolia's democratic revolution in 1990, Mongolia's capital has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Central Asia. Ulaanbaatar now has many surprising opportunities for business growth.

We have placements for you in business administration and management, and in a wide range of manufacturing and service companies, including those in the growing tourism industry. Imports account for around 90 per cent of Mongolia's consumer spending and, as a result, trading companies dominate the economy. A placement in this sector could involve you working with a director or general manager of a small or medium-sized company, often handling cross-border contracts with Russian and Chinese clients, or in major Mongolian companies. Hotels, publishers and a host of other industries are also happy to host volunteers on work experience placements.

The possibilities are almost limitless - let us know what sort of experience you are looking for and we'll see what we can arrange. Whatever you end up doing you'll get a fascinating insight into a small-scale but burgeoning business environment.
