IT Projects in Ghana

The IT project in the Akuapem Hills is a fundamental way in which Teaching & Projects Abroad volunteers can help the local community. All you need is basic computer skills and the willingness to share the knowledge with teachers as well as students.

The IT Centre was set up in April 2005 at Abiriw Primary School by a former Teaching & Projects Abroad volunteer. Our volunteers are essential for the running of the centre as the school does not currently have its own IT teachers. This means that part of your responsibilities will be making sure the local teachers are learning how to use the computers, as well as the students, so the teachers can continue using the computers with their students when there are no volunteers present.

Teaching such a useful vocational skill is invaluable for the local community and provides the children with a range of job opportunities not previously available to them.
