On a journalism placement in the vibrant, modern city of Shanghai, you will work alongside local journalists on an English-language newspaper or magazine. While contributing to your CV and portfolio, you will gain a fascinating insight into modern-day Chinese culture as well as the current role of the press in China.
Depending on your areas of interest, you will have the opportunity to undertake a range of journalistic activities including researching, interviewing, reporting, writing reviews, feature writing and proof-reading. You can work for a business, entertainment or news publication where you will be able to see the many facets of life in Shanghai and experience the variety the city has to offer.
You will be given the scope and opportunity to write articles on a continuous basis; interviewing leading business leaders, consulate generals, as well as giving your personal insight into Shanghai culture, from news, to restaurants to clubs.
You'll have support the whole time from your supervisor on the placement (an English speaking editor or reporter).
"The responsibility I was given at my journalism placement was completely unexpected. The opportunities I had in Shanghai have helped my career immensely".
